The Relief Efforts during the 2008 Snowstorm

In January 2008, China’s central and southern regions were hit by a rare snowstorm. This event, which lasted for over two weeks, was unprecedented in 50 years. Hunan was among the most affected areas. The freezing disaster actually “semi-paralyzed” Hunan’s transportation system; the Hunan section of the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, a key national artery, was isolated and tens of thousands of vehicles and passengers were stranded on the expressway.
Sany immediately responded with equipment and material assistance to restore traffic. On January 15, Sany assembled seven of its motor graders and 500 persons to immediately clear the main roads of Xingsha area where Sany is located and the route for the machines to exit. In the following days, more than 20 motor graders were sent to the ring roads and main roads of Changsha City. From January 26, Sany increased its efforts to restore the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway with 23 motor graders, three cranes, 51 operators and 2,182 persons working continuously around the clock. By February 4, the results of Sany's efforts were a total of 943 km of snow- and ice-covered roads cleared and reopened -- a smooth and safe way home lighted up the rays of hope for all the people trapped.
And besides these relief actions, Sany also donated three million RMB yuan to the affected people.

The Relief Efforts for the Wenchuan Earthquake

At 14:28 (2:28 p.m.) on Monday, May 12, 2008, an earthquake measuring 8.2 on the Richter scale struck the Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province. So many peoples' life was instantly changed: children lost their parents, wives lost their husbands and many lost their homes. As a responsible enterprise, Sany Group responded immediately and took quick actions to help with the disaster relief.
That same afternoon, Mr. Wengen Liang, Chairman of the Board, instructed the related departments to extend full support to the disaster relief by organizing labor, materials and funds. Mr. Xiuguo Tang, President of Sany Group, urged the Sany rescue team to prepare and depart for the disaster area as soon as possible. In his words, “The earlier the rescue team arrives, the more lives will be saved.”

At noon on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, Mr. Wenbo Xiang, CEO of Sany Heavy Industry, announced through the Sina website that Sany would donate 18 million RMB yuan to the earthquake-hit area of Sichuan and at the same time called for Chinese companies to actively assist in the earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction. Sany was on the list of the biggest cash donators.
